Filling the garden with carpets of blue flowers

Today ’s picture come from Jan Garrabrandt .

Although it ’s been a nerveless and long-winded spring in Lancaster County , Pennsylvania , the flowers are really putting on a show . I started my auberge 23 years ago on half an acre of mostlypoison ivy . Little by little , friend and syndicate give me their favorite perennials , and I buy more than I give care to admit . Our soil is the richest nonirrigated ground in the country , so thanks to that , my garden prosper .

This exposure shows mycreeping phlox(Phlox subulata , zone 3–9)with a cameo by Lucy the cat . I add a fiddling to the planting every year .

My Narcissus pseudonarcissus in this picture are along our pavement on Main Street .

TheVirginia bluebells(Mertensia virginica , Zones 3–8)were a gift from a friend in townspeople . I bed profane flowers , and he could n’t believe that I did n’t have any in my gardens . So he gave me theseedsfor these , but it take several tries to ground them .

Our cherry tree diagram   ( possiblyPrunusserrulata‘Kanzan ’ , Zones 5–9 ) is in all probability about 20 years old , and I love it more and more every yr .

I brought “ a few ” violets(Violasororia , Zones 3–7 ) from our old house–23 age ago . As you could see , they have breed and made themselves ample . Others may call them weeds , but I wish the color of the blossom and the green nitty-gritty - shaped farewell so much expert than justmulchunderneath .
