increase grower trust and consumer demand for greenlife resulted in the cut-rate sale of around 1.9 billion plant last year , accord to the latest Nursery Industry Statistics 2017 - 18 survey report .
Funded by Hort Innovation and conduct by Nursery and Garden Industry Association ( NGIA ) , Down To Earth Research and ACIL Allen , the report valuate data from more than 290 nursery growers across Australia .
NGIA Chief Executive Officer Peter Vaughan said the total economic value of the nursery industry grew by approximately five per centime to $ 2.4 billion from 2015 - 16 to 2017 - 18 .

“ This is a very positive result for the manufacture and muse widespread sentiment that interest in , and demand for , greenlife continue to raise here in Australia , ” Mr Vaughan said .
“ Importantly , more than 80 per cent of growers surveyed tell they were optimistic about the future of their industry and foresee that product demand would increase over the next five age .
“ Business investment was also up this year , with six out of ten growers investing in infrastructure , new engineering or education and preparation , ” he said .
Mr Vaughan said the survey found that the nursery diligence employed more or less 25,000 hoi polloi across 1,651 production businesses .
