The specific epithet " whitesloaneana(pronounced bloodless - sloan - ee - AY - nuh ) " honors Alain White and Boyd L. Sloane , two American expert on Stapeliads and Euphorbias .

Huernia whitesloaneanais endemic to the Blouberg and the Soutpansberg in Limpopo , the northernmost province of   South Africa . It usually produce on more or less bland sandstone rock outcrop on top of the mass in very exposed spots .
