It ’s been 8 calendar month since two of Marginpar ’s farms in Kenya – Hamwe farm and Livewire farm – merged into one big farm ; Kariki Naivasha farm . direction teams and facilities were combined and it is now one strong entity . Esao Otuodi is the farm managing director of this new farm . In this article , he talks about the unconscious process of the merger and his talent of fetch people together .
1 + 1 = 1Before the fusion , Esao was farm handler at Livewire , which was one of the partner farm . In grooming of the fusion , he was trained on servant leading , communication and on merging teams . Esao : “ I was very well prepared , so when the time fare it went on quite smoothly . We had done the ground work and everything fell into place . A lot of colleagues from Livewire were remove to Kariki Naivasha . We had been practicing Kaizen before , but now we flip to Hamuka culture , with the main difference being the part of people authorization . the great unwashed now own their appendage . see back , compared to a year ago , people are happier . They finger better and realise that Marginpar is bet after them . My own oeuvre has also improved because with authorization of citizenry , I have been reach more time to focus on foundation and to look after the citizenry on the ground in a much skillful way . It has become easier for me to pass the squad . ”
Leading from the frontEsao ’s solar day can be very varying , but each morning starts with meet the heads of the department , to verify everything is fine . Esao : “ Once I bed that everybody is okay and everything is well , I handle subject matter from partners , suppliers , fellow in the Netherlands , etc . But my main precedence for each day is to be in the field , to see where there is need for documentation , whether it be in terms of giving advice , coaching masses in the airfield , or add a helping mitt . It is my Book of Job to lead from the front , not to sit on the fencing and secern , but really show . I wait for chance for betterment , rather than ‘ problems ’ . We hash out these challenge and together we fall up with groundbreaking ideas . ”

Empowered transportEsao : “ We always say that obstacle are best overcome by the people who are doing the oeuvre in the field ; the shoe wearers . One of the improvements we have made lately is in the empowerment of the transport squad . They lick with automobile to bring the freshly harvested flush to the packhouse . The machines would from time to time break down , make delays in our processes . In the past they would play the motorcar to me and I had to have it fix . Now we have train the squad and set up a docket to check the machine on a regular basis so that any matter are observe early on , before a complete partitioning . It has been working very well . ”
The final piece of the puzzelEmpowerment and team work are top precedency for Esao . Team work has proven to be of dandy importance over the preceding twelvemonth . Esao : “ We were struggling with Hypericum and Gypsophila lineament . I brought the product and post - harvest teams together because they were ‘ seeing different trees ’ . From there we were able-bodied to perpetrate away from the dispute , and focus on the flowers . Since then , the teams have been working together and quality of both crop is now top - class . Esao : “ What I have really seen the preceding year , is that when you indue people and take proficient care of them , they will always go out or their way to look after their workplace . Together we have built a farm to be proud of . ”
