A dream retirement lake house gets a garden to match
Hi GPODers ! think never having to tamp up and leave the lake house after summer holiday is over . Today we ’re in the garden of Peter and Geri Riendeau , who made that pipe dream a reality . However , after at long last settling into their retirement dream home they built on a beautiful lake in southerly Maine , they were still voiceless at work . They spent nearly a decade creating the dream garden to cope with this slice of Eden .
The following are a few pics of our garden beds . We build our retirement dream home and permanently move to Sanford Maine on Estes Lake in July 2016 . Over the last 8 long time we created garden beds from a clean slate after the soma .
This is a peony that plays dainty with the ninebark(Physocarpusopulifolius‘Monlo ’ , Zones 3–7)that is in full bloom . In the foreground is a small evergreen plant that stays minor in a round growing substance abuse . The yellow loosestrife(Lysimachia punctata , Zones 4–8)is peaking up between it all .

A shining red climbing rose is still just beginning to mount over this spindle , but is already add together to the dreaminess of this garden .
And another rose is lending to the romantic smell of this garden in both look and name . RosaMoonlight Romantica ® ( Zones 5–9 ) has incredible , double bloom to fail for and a sweet , citrusy sweetness that is almost as delectable as the blooms themselves .
Geri and Peter clearly love their climbers — and for honorable cause ! This honest-to-goodness , wooden fence has groovy character and is the staring look for a New England , lake - side abode , but it looks considerably more interesting with this huge , mount hydrangea easy taking it over .

All next to the perfect smear to sit , baseball swing , and enjoy this garden !
A margin after my own warmness — plenty of beautiful blooms , but even more sensory foliage . peculiarly love the promising pinkish peony and ninebark that equate that planting we saw above .
Living in your dream lake house in Maine means you necessitate to think about garden sake in more than just the gamy season . Flowering shrubs are a great way to ensure lots of flowers when you ’re outside the most , but still plenty of interest as the season twine down . Popcorn genus Viburnum ( Viburnumplicatumf.plicatum‘Popcorn ’ , Zones 4–8 ) is absolutely covered in these fabulous blossom cluster come fountain , but bequeath a second show for decline when the foliage turn scarlet to purpleness .

In a aspiration garden , a shed is much more than a structure for utility , it ’s another opportunity to create something beautiful . This brown shed cut with green is quaint , but becomes a whole scene when pair off with a choir of diverse , green plant ( and a clematis , yet another climber adding vertical interest ) .
Another incredible seating area to kick back and bask the scene that besiege . When you may perpetrate your centre from the fabulous hydrangea that line and sneak onto the deck , you may catch a coup d’oeil of the sun setting on Estes Lake in the background .
The perfect position to sit and enjoy the view . Hopefully Peter and Geri are spend more time sipping coffee and relish all their hard work !

With heatwaves sweep across the state , I ’d say we ’re all dreaming of being lakeside in Maine all summer . give thanks you for sharing your slight slice of heaven with us , Geri !
