Pinguicula moranensisis a perennial insectivorous plant that take shape summer rosettes of flat succulent leave of absence hatch in mucilaginous glands that pull , trap , and digest arthropod prey . In wintertime , it form a non - carnivorous rosette of small leaf that conserve energy while downhearted solid food and moisture provision . The leave are up to 4 inch ( 10 cm ) long . only pinkish , purple , or violet flowers appear double a year on upright , up to 10 column inch ( 25 cm ) long stalks .
