My radio show will air on Saturday , Feb 25 on KSFR 101.1 radio place and airs the last Saturday of every calendar month where I give tips and propose about garden for the following calendar month . March will be about myseed starting schedulewhich I ’ve already begin but many veggie can be started later too from the schedule .
I want to spill about my planting schedule for 2023 . Thought you lecturer might be concerned . Of naturally , the day of the month are not carve in Harlan Stone and exchange a little each year but it tell me when I should get grow and how I imagine when starting harvest . Some are started inside and afterward many lovesome season harvest are started inside and more warm season crops will be lineal seed into the ground when the land warm up up in June . If you plan to spring up veggies this year , it is dear to be organized . I require to see it in piece of writing .
This may seem a bit much to make up such a detailed schedule but I grow so many varieties of veggies and they each have their own growing season so it keeps me on track . you could expend mine or make your own up - you could do it simply in a notebook computer but I hope this will help oneself you set off to consider of your planning .

Please note that once I establish the other cool season crops outside , I use row covering ( polypropylenefabric ) over them on a cold nite to keep them from freezing . I have people ask if they can utilise a canvass - NO and one person told me they used a kip old bag - NO ! It did n’t work ! ( I evidence them the only way they could habituate that was if they were in it ! )
For sprouting tips , gohere : Also here is ( Zone 6a):SEED GERMINATION CHARTwhich give the optimum stain germination temperature of crop and how retentive to germinate .
Later when quick to transfer tomatoes and peppers / eggplants outside , I will use wall of H2O ( WOWs ) to help start the time of year earlier soif you do n’t expend either of those help , then you will have to hold back till danger of frost is over . These two aids are priceless and will give you a head start on getting some of the crop outside in earlier .
I have already start INSIDE with gelt , Spinacia oleracea , arugula , bok choi , and pak choi . All these will go from the germination tray to pony mob and then after they are big enough , go in either the Green house or moth-eaten frame . Seems other ? YES but I want to get to harvest the cool time of year crops before the heat comes and they take 30 - 60 24-hour interval to rise to harvest . Must get them out of the house before we start tomatoes inside on March 28 as we involve the place inside by then !
PEPPERS
The next thing I will start are Madagascar pepper inside on Mar 1(on the agenda ) , because they take a recollective prison term to get sized up . I always said await until June 1 but if you have wall of waters ( WOWs ) they might assist get your pepper plants outside a slight sooner . Even then , it is still very cool at nite . What happens to peppers if you plant outside when it is still cold at nite ? They will stall out and stop growing ! And they wo n’t start rise again - then you would have to buy some because it will be too late to start them again .
TOMATOES
Next- will plant tomato seeds on March 28 .
NOTE : Before it get ’s red-hot in JUNE , take off the riot as you’re able to fry the plants - all plants . BUT if you do n’t have riot , wait till June 1 to industrial plant peppers / eggplants and May 15 for Lycopersicon esculentum outside .

Cool season cropsinside, under lights -NO heat mats early March
Warm season crops inside-Tomatoes/peppers/eggplants under lights with HEAT MATSand a THERMOSTATwill help keep the temperature at the correct germination temp. Notice peppers/eggplant seeds are planted earlier because they take so long to size up before planting outside and tomato seeds are being planted Mar 28 this year.
If this is too much info, go buy your plants ready to transplant-you can still use the schedule. Why do I grow my own varieties? Because there are so many more great varieties of veggies you can grow IF YOU START THEM YOURSELF.

seeds / i = starting seed inside under luminousness / no heat for coolheaded time of year crops / ardent time of year crop also get a heat mat .
tranplant / pp / i = transfer up to pony packs - still at heart under lights ( 4 or 6 cells - like what you bribe flowers in )
graft GH / pancreatic fibrosis - transplantation into unwarmed Greenhouse / cold frame . Use words back over crops at nites to protect from cold-blooded - I sometimes habituate 2 level of dustup covert if very cold .
DS remote - Direct seed outside
I write notes all over the schedule so I see what I did for next year . For instance , I change my cold season crop ( lettuces / spinach / arugula ) to a later date . No reason except I did n’t check last class ’s dates and am tardy , but not too late . I attempt to be done with them when it gets too strong in the green house or moth-eaten frame which is usually around later April - early May before they bolt . Bolting is when they produce a blossom stalk which construct them bitter . I either compost them then or feed in them to my chicken . I do n’t care bitter greens .
