If you have a cutworm problem in your garden, your baby seedlings are at risk. Here’s one way to protect them.
Have you ever set out levelheaded young seedlings in the garden , only to incur them felled the next morning as if chopped by a miniature lumberjack ? I have , and the culprit iscutworms . I drop a lot of time and vim planting and nurturing my seedlings , so it ’s worth it to me to drop just a fiddling more clip to keep them good . My solution is simple , effective , and chemical substance innocent . I reprocess used yoghourt containers into plant leash . Here ’s how :
1 . Take a yogurt container , and plunge a knife into it near the bottom to start the cut , then finish up it with a knife or scissors hold . Your container is now bottom - less . Do n’t erode if the cutting is lambaste , as mine normally are . The cut sharpness will be underground , and the flora wo n’t deal .
2 . With a trowel , make a hole for the seedling , and implant it . I wish to place my seedlings a small lower than the surrounding soil Earth’s surface .

In plus to cutworm protection , the collar offer other benefit . They shield the young seedling from wind , and they direct water right to the roots . Collars delay in place for the length of the growing season and can be used again the play along year.3 . push the dog collar into the world around the flora .
