garden
Getting colder overnight , but no rime yet , so still a mo of flower power going on . The days are noticeably shorter – it is dark when I leave the theater for work , dour when I get home again , so we ’re in that period of the year when there ’s still quite a bit to do in the garden but less chance to do it .
Still , there ’s always the weekend , and it ’s time for another Six on Saturday . Six things , in the garden , on a Saturday . Could be anything , a problem to do , a good efflorescence , an interesting plant life , a pestis , a success , a failure , anything at all ! Why not join in ?

Here are my Six .
1 . Pelargoniums . Just your basic pelly . Not very glamourous but very reliable . I fiddle about overwintering some , take cuttings , but in reality they can be had for pennies by the tray in the fountain . I usually debase up and treat them as annuals . I care the foliation almost as much as the flowers . Always room for pellies in my garden .
2 . genus Hypericum , St John ’s Wort . This is a shrub in the front garden . There are n’t many flowers give now but it ’s not done yet , having flowered through the summer . It ’s got braggy , I in all likelihood take to prune it back a scrap . I have been calling this a spirea but on condition that ’s nonsense . by all odds a hypericum , perhaps ‘ hidcote ’ .

3 . Morning glory . What ’s the narration ? A surprise entrant , these must have self seeded , I surely have n’t sow in any this year . Doubly surprise that they ’re flowering now in October . I think they were a summertime plant ? The centre of these flower positively glows , it ’s like there ’s an light-emitting diode Light Within in the middle .
4 . Rosa ‘ danse de feu ’ . Not the first meter this has featured but I ’m impressed . It ’s still flowering , has been for months . There has not been a single 24-hour interval in that period without at least one prime blooming , usually more . I suppose this will be it ’s last hooray for this year . I ’ve another 4 of these climbers , last yr ’s hardwood cuttings , from which I will expect like avail next year .
5 . Fuchsia . These live in a little plantation owner down the side of the home . It ’s a fair shady spot but not shadowy enough to discourage these sonny . The multifariousness is lost to time . They look like they ’ve die each winter , idle sticks , no foretoken of buds or anything , then they come back to lifespan in the spring .

6 . Seed atomic number 50 . Full of promise for next year . It ’s already groaning a routine at the seams but I expect there ’ll be more to add . In fact I know there will , I will be redact my order in to the HPS seed exchange in a calendar month or two . It ’s just a metal corner , nothing too fancy . It live in the shed on top of the potting judiciary where it ’s dry and evenhandedly coolheaded .
I ’ll be back next Saturday with another Six .
