SixOnSaturday
I accidentally order more lightbulb yesterday . Oops . Just a few dozen alliums . I justify it on the tenuous grounds that I had n’t bought any alliums this year . To tot to the 200 I bought last year . I am going to pot them up severally for now then establish them out in the borderline in the outpouring wherever I see a suited gap . It ’s late to be set alliums , presumably why they were on offer , but I ’m sure they ’ll be fine and catch up next year . Time for Six on Saturday – Six things , in the garden , on a Saturday . Could be anything – a flower , a leaf , a plague , a job completed , a program , a failure , anything at all ! unite in .
Here are my Six for this workweek .

1 – Exochorda macrantha ‘ The Bride ’ . Weird . This is supposed to flower in the spring and early summertime . This shrub is either a cutting I cope to grow , or a commiseration bench leverage . If it ’s the latter , it ’s because the former did n’t work . I really do n’t remember . Clearly the plant does n’t remember when it ’s theorise to bloom . Anyway , this is at best a glimpse , a soupcon of the full effect . Just one little grouping on the tip of one stem . In its gaudery , this is supposed to be shrouded in white . Never happened for me yet – perhaps this is the start of it charge up its ideas .
2 – Aster ‘ Star of Chester ’ . A yoke of weeks back I mentioned this plant and it ’s gaggle of future film editing that I would dutifully wait until Spring to take . Well , I got impatient . I delicately hacked away at a few stems to supply some good material , lots of roots , then potted them up . I have heavily circumvent my bets by leave most of it in situation , for those I will wait until the spring . Honest , Guv .
3 – Wallflowers . I ordered 60 wallflowers from Mr Fothergill ’s , a special offer impulse , the work of interweb moments . They did n’t seem perky on arrival but I planted them anyway . While some have advert on and even few calculate quite vital , most are looking very sickly indeed . Mr F ’s did refund me the cost of the plants , so I do not hold a grievance . Any that do perk up up and flourish in the spring will be a free bonus .

4 – Sedum ‘ Autumn Joy ’ . Often a sprawler , this plant has stay fairly upright this year . The Robert Frost this week has largely finished it off , but there is still a confidential information of colour . I saw an approximation on Twitter to practice the pruned stems for cuttings . According to the post-horse , the small stems produce little farewell which will root if placed on top of compost . When I cut it back in the other Spring , I ’m going to give it a try for the fun of it . Because I call for more plant . Not !
5 – Salvia ‘ Hot Lips ’ . For a long time I coveted this works , mainly because I had somehow go to successfully grow it from cuttings . I have ended up with two industrial plant that I have buy at different times . I now ca n’t decide if I like it or not . I like the smell of the leafage a flock , but the flowers , the thing that ab initio pull me , magpie manner – not so much any longer . The novelty has wear down off . It emphatically want a good prune in the spring , mine have got quite sprawly this yr .
6 – Garlic , emerging . I was a first - fourth dimension cultivator of garlic last year and am back for a 2nd sexually transmitted disease . I bought some seminal fluid garlic but have tot up to that by plant some of the cloves acquire this yr . They are just beginning to emerge from under the mulch that I plop on top of them a few weeks back . If you have n’t tried to grow before , dead slow , cling it in the earth and leave it be . There are outpouring planting varieties .

Have a fab weekend , desire you negociate to get some gardening done , do n’t blank out to check back in during the day as more link get added .
I ’ll be back next weekend for another # SixOnSaturday
