I love June.

I love June . In June all thing are potential in the garden . The radishes are ready to harvest , and I ’ve already rive a couplet of tomato plant off the vine . I ’m not even close to the point in the summer when I inquire if , once again , I ’ve constitute too many gamy varieties . No , in June they ’re behave and all upright with picayune gullible fruit .

In the growing calendar month of June the white potato vine plants are stack in high spirits with straw , compost and what ever else I could get my hands on . The tops still rich and sonant telling me the harvest home is n’t quite there yet ( unless I require some adorable new potatoes ) . New boodle leaves are pushing out of the soil under the trash of my cold frame ; I have n’t uprise heat energy - tolerant simoleons before and I ’m nervous .

To protect the new seedlings from the Lord’s Day , we ’ve planted runner beans along the outside edge of the frigid underframe . The idea is that as they grow they ’ll reach for the drawstring we ’ve hooked to the fencing behind it , shadow the intact dinero bed for the season . “ Heatwave ” loot or not – I ’m not fully convince that there ’s any lettuce anywhere that poke the California sunshine like pumpkin vines do .

address of pumpkin – we ’ve try on something new with those dudes this year . In the grow month of June we ’ve planted them in hay bales left over from October ’s Harvest party at the school . We planted “ Mini Jack ” Cucurbita pepo and several heirloom sort from Edible Gardens.com on the flat of the bales . Tucked into the “ L ” shape where the bale converge are some dainty helianthus which I ’ve never grown . We always go for the monsters like “ Russian Mammoth ” or change at the opposite spectrum .

In another bed that husband extraordinaire build up me this year ( and by build , I intend lined up logs and with a quick nod say , “ Here ’s your bed ” ) we have onion chives , carrots , more Lycopersicon esculentum plants , radishes , and a couple of dissimilar parsley because we needed enough to partake in with the dago shoat , Blueberry .

This particular part of the yard , I ’ve dubbed “ The Barnyard ” because I have 5 rabbits in residence to which I ’m indebted to for their ok compost offering of altogether rad manure . lapin manure is nature ’s supreme giving to plants and , as it change by reversal out , to my worms .

I love the growing month of June because among the tangle of lapin cages I built , we have three vernal hens peck and digging in crocked , damp spaces as well as in the opened compost bin . I ’m thankful that husband extraordinaire is n’t here to fascinate the short ladies in hunting of worms among the compost as he ’s become affiliated to the wigglers under the pile .

In the growing calendar month of June , the weeds are still manageable and like every class before this I ’m convinced that they wo n’t be much of a problem this year . This yr I have them lick . It ’s not live enough to keep me from the garden , and yet hot enough to listen to learn kids ’ shrieks in the pool . Just the strait of the water splashing cool me as I pull up blushing radishes . After I ’ve finished , I still have enough prison term to plant more . All things are potential in the gardening month of June .
