A peal of string , a supply of wooden stakes , a mallet and a valuate tape . That is precisely what each of our farm ’s “ major ” building projects have start up with – and today , we will once again take out those four round-eyed items to begin the first physical process in the building of our ego - sufficient cabin that will take place later this summer .
The presently to be built cabin project – enliven by this scene of a cabin we find on - line last class .
There is something really special about that first daytime of marking off the building site . It brings the process to life as you could begin to see shape and outline – and yes – it give up us to Clarence Day - dream a little about what it will await like when it ’s all complete .

The soon to be built cabin project – inspired by this picture of a cabin we found on-line last year.
The cabin task is one we have really been seem forward to make out – it will finally give us a place to ride out on the farm overnight and perhaps savor a few weekends there as well from time to clip . It will also be the first project we have ever tried to build in a individual day(see : a cabin lift ) . It should make for a fun day – keen memory , and hopefully a special place at the farm to stay .
So as we head out for the day – we took a look back at three of our other “ big ” task that have helped to build the farm over the last three days – all starting with those same stakes and drawing string – and of row with a little elbow filth and hard workplace – turning it into part of our pipe dream .
The Barn Project:(See : The Barn Project In Photos )

Our completed barn with attached pergola
Our completed b with affiliated pergola
The idea for our b came from a simple pencil drawing over the winter of 2010 - 2011 . As we adumbrate out what we need our little barn to count like – I am not quite sure either of us have a go at it for certain it would actually ever be built . But the dreaming acquire from that drawing into realness – taking down two old barn and creating our “ new ” one .
The Chicken Coop :( See : Building Our New Coop )

The new coop built to match the barn
The fresh coop ramp up to match the b
The wimp coop project is really our 2nd coop on the farm . Our first we create from palette and shipping crates – and then designed this one so that we could expand our flock . It was designed to match the b and has provided a safe environs for our hens to savor the farm .
The Barn Pergola and Patio:(See : The Barn Pergola )

Our barn pergola – a favorite spot at the farm to sit and relax
Our b arbor – a favourite spot at the farm to sit and slacken
Still our preferent spot at the farm ! We built it as a seat to be able to revel a dinner or just sit and relax – and it has become just that . The best part – most of it was build from recycled or scrap lumber – include the terrace made from reclaimed brick .
