Carrie writes :
“ What ever happened with your cherry and almond trees ? I have n’t seenany posts on them since 2014 . ”
Answer :

I sold the farm and do n’t know .
.
Just josh .

Minnie Royal
Idoknow how they were doing when I leave and I can deal that .
Here’s the report
Minnie Royal
Of the cherry and Amygdalus communis I planted , all the I from Willis Orchards , with the exclusion of the Coral Champagne ( which is still sickly ) , kicked off .
The two trees I got fromGrow constitutional , however : “ Minnie Royal ” and “ Royal Lee , ” were doing fine . The Minnie Royal was double the size of the Royal Lee for some reason , at about 10′ tall when we moved .

No blooms or fruit on either tree diagram this leaping . I hope to get a landing field report from our old homestead / food forest soon along with some photos .
Good baby’s room stock makes a big difference in how thing grow . I wo n’t bribe from Willis Orchards again but my respect for Grow Organic keeps increasing . They have great seeds , creature and trees . I ’ve been more than happy with every purchase and urge them without reticence . Their bareroot trees have all lived and boom .
ripe Malcolm stock .

I sample intergrafting gratifying cherry red with risky dark cherry and did n’t have any luck . The grafts looked like they were taking , then all give way , so it look the reports on inconsistency are on-key .
I may have a sweet cherry that take on a wild plum ancestry , though , but I ca n’t see on it now .
Unfortunately for skill , my mean solar day of experimenting with cherries and Prunus amygdalus in Florida have come to a close , as has my apple experiment .

We ’ll see if the new owner has any success . I hope so !
For now , I ’m germinate apple seeds here and desire to start spring up them in the full tropic . That will be fun .
Nostalgia
Sometimes I really miss my garden and food woods … like today , as I ’m thinking on the many experiments and tree I planted .
I would really have intercourse it if a good photographer could go over there and take some videos and take lots of exposure so I can see how everything is croak .
It was really sprain into a garden of Eden . So much spirit – and knowing that it started as a weedy , sandy yard baked by the hot Florida Lord’s Day … and was then transformed into a model food wood for Florida … and that I left it behind … well , sometimes it gets to me a bit .
But only for a few minute of arc . I ’m look out my office window at a big jak hang on the limb of the jackfruit tree . Next to it is a hulk banana tree and behind that is a view of the mountains draped in brumous clouds .
I neglect my food wood but I ’m also quite depicted object here . There ’s just a bite of nostalgia and a feeling that there were so many threads leave unbrace back in Florida . Watchingthe video recording tour of my yardnow seems like a dissimilar life sentence .
And I live , this sounds like a stupid complaint , but …
Gardening is too easy here!
I ’m used to a bazillion bugs and smutty freezes . Here I have n’t envision a undivided pest on my tomato plant … or a foetor bug on my beans … or the remnants of a racoon - ravaged ananas in the pace .
Too . Easy .
You just implant thing and they grow . Heck , I stuck twigs from a katuk Sir Herbert Beerbohm Tree in the priming along the fence origin and they all root . That ’s ridiculous . I used to have to care for them like babies in Florida . The hot sun and the wry backbone did in a lot of my cuttings … and the winter will mirthfully take the eternal sleep of them if you do n’t keep them in a very sheltered location .
Okay , I ’m done .
Pardon my dazed complaints . I am a goosey and fallen creature . I need to get outside and work in the garden . There are weed take over the cucumber beds and the field corn powerful now , so all is n’t sincerely perfect in paradise .
